Need help identifying a inherited Mauser

So this is technically my brothers Mauser. My dad gave it to him, and my dad bought for like $40 from a pawn shop before I was born (I think?) and no ones much about it. Dad just says it's "an 8mm Mauser" so aside from that, I don't know anything.

I'm curious of what variant it is, i'm thinking maybe a Yugoslavian? I don't think it ever seen war, since there's no military symbols? I took pictures of what I could see, they're all incredibly small markings. Here's an album with around 30 pictures of all the markings.

Welcome to the Milserps Forum, nugert102. I think that it would be very helpful to post some good quality pictures of the complete rifle showing both sides, top, bottom and any features that you consider unusual. Yugoslaviaicon did have a long history and connection to the Mauser rifle of 7.92mm/8mm calibre and they did refurbish many examples Post WW2. The examples which they refurbished for there own use, post WW2, they normally engraved a crest on the top of the receiver but the examples for export I don't believe had this.

Sorry, here's an IMGUR album of the gun. Dads Gun - Album on Imgur I can take a picture of the whole rifle all at once, but it's difficult considering how big it is. All the pictures I took are of markings I found on the rifle, I was hoping someone would recognize them? They're incredibly small though, and don't resemble any I've seen before.

It is a post WW2 Yugoslav m48. If the receiver is unmarked it is the m48bo or "export" model. Caliber 8x57.

Thanks, I appreciate it. It's a m48bo, since it has no marks on the receiver. It's good to know the exact variant that we have. From what I can tell the value should be around $300? It's fully matching (even down to the firing pin) we're not selling it, but i'd like to know the value anyway.

There may be some/a few WW2 parts on the rifle because I believe that the Yugoslavs used up any remaining parts that they had to hand which were inherited from the Nazis. In my opinion the Yugoslavs made a nice job of building and refurbishing these rifles post WW2 and I believe them to be still undervalued, not necessarily in monetary terms. The Yugoicon refurbished K98s I believe were done to a much better standard than the Sovieticon refurbs of the K98icon.

It may be worth $300 - seems the export variant is less common than the m48 and m48a. I picked up a m48a earlier this year in very good condition but the bolt was not matching for $225. But I am pretty frugal.

$300 is a good price. And they will go up pretty fast when the sources dry up. They are still available surplus and there are some available for less still, condition affects price.

Thanks for the help guys. I plan to buy a Turkishicon Mauser for myself, as this one is my little brothers. Aside from needing to be field stripped and cleaned it's good... The Turkish I want to buy is priced at $175 (it's an 8mm.. Found it on CL of all places!)

I'll update you guys on that when it happens!
