Zbrojovka Brno, From Firearms to Tractors. Arthur Nutbey ISBN 978-94-90024-00-0

I have just received, today, the above hard-back book which I purchased just before Christmas. The 80 page book is profusely illustrated with a combination of black and white photographs, colour photographs plus a number of tables and diagrams etc. Just flicking through the book today I can see that this is going to be a most interesting read as well as a useful reference book to have on the shelf. The book details not just the company's arms production, over many years, which is a major part of the book but also describes some of the company's other diverse range of products such as tractors and typewriters. I paid just over £20 including postage for my copy and I can confirm that it's worth every penny.

As is widely known it was from this Company that the design for the famous Bren Gun originated, details of which are described in the book.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I'm surprised that there hasn't been greater interest in this book.

More of a coffee table book as it just gives a very brief view.
Although it's in Czechicon a detailed 3 volume publication of which this is one - Koncern brněnské Zbrojovky v letech 1939-1945 by Otakar Franek covers the history of the company in much more detail.
