Thanks mrclark303, unfortunately the scope is a Chinese copy. One of our club members also has the full length A2 version. I would prefer that version but this came up at a very reasonable price and I couldn't resist it.

You got that right... My HOD is nice at least for loading, clearing stoppages too. Sometimes the top round being flexed down will cause a jam so dropping the bolt on a cartridge makes the first round start off nicely. Mine isn't so particular, I make sure to clean and oil before. I had a black parkerized one that was finicky and changed to this chrome model, all issued evaporated...big difference.

I would quite like another .22LR AR, might look for a secondhand CMMG, do they make a full length A4 type flat top rife I wonder?

Thanks for the link Jim, the flat top A4 looks the part, I might take a look to see what I can find out there.

You can also build to spec if you have any parts at all. Lowers are lowers and stripped uppers are standard. Dedicated barrels are best and the kit is different for a dedicated and a drop in. You don't need a million $ optic, just a simple red dot that you can zero to this rifle and no other.

My old Spikes Tactical had the same ciener bolt group as yours Jim, minus the chamber insert.

Mine was the early type and required considerable running in, to be honest, reliably wise couldn't hold a candle to my L1A1 .22 kit, even keeping it clean and lubricated. But a mate has a relatively new CMMG M4 build, it's reliable and reasonably accurate, build design appears to be slightly different from what I can remember of the original base design.

I do miss the familer AR ease of handling, when I put a few rounds though a borrowed rifle, I am reminded how the controls just fall instictivly to hand, Eugene Stoner was rather good at egronomics!

Is this the one? I stumbled on this one recently.
Sarco had the kits (which I think are gone) but still have many of the components and perhaps the USAF system with the polymer mag.

It looks right... I had a couple of the white poly mags some time ago. Gone now...

Yes, the dedicated gun or upper. I built one too but had issues so I change to the one pictured and no more problems.
