Question Hello! And a question about an Eddy P-14

Hi! Total noobie to this forum and Mil/Surp. Hopefully one of you fine folks can help shed some light on this issue!

I've had this unit for about 30 years or so (bought at an auction for $50) but I've never fired it. I've taken it apart several times and cleaned/lubricated it and it looks like there is no corrosion in the barrel. My question is in regard to the stock. It's shorter than the stocks that I see usually associated with this vintage rifle. It does not have the top rear handguard or the front top/bottom handguard. It looks to me like a standard rifle stock. I don't believe it is a sporterized P14 as it looks like the same era as date of manufacture. Can anyone shed some light on this or should I look for a set of handguards and try to fit them on?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the forum, we'd need to see pics to be certain but it still sounds like it's been cut down and sporterized. If the bottom wood is even slightly shorter then yes, it's been hacked. The top handguards are around as is the metal. You'd be able to find some parts at the Burnaby gun shows or the big Chilliwack show for replacements... Or you can place a WTB here to see what comes up.
    Regards, Jim

Thanks for the info Jim. I'll post some pics when I put it back together.

Any idea where I can get info on the Burnaby gun show (ie. where and when)?

You should be able to find out online who ramrods it and phone numbers. Even an old show listing should have a contact number. The same guys usually run these, same place same time...maybe a copy of the gunrunner would have some info? Show listings?
    Regards, Jim
