ALERT! Micro-stamping your cartridges; it could start here

    in freerepublic.com.

I had predicted that, since they lost the frontal assault in the Supreme Court, they would inititate attacks on our flanks. I see they've chosen to begin in one of the most Liberal states in the Union.

The strategy here is to make gun ownership very expensive, if not unaffordable, and to reduce the economic viability of gun makers in the bargain.

I hope the NRA has been accumulating funds to fight this sort of crap.

And I hope we ALL take a page from our opponents playbook, and become "Activists" in defense of our gun rights.

    Connecticut anti-gun Legislation hearings on Monday, March 16th: SB353 & SB839

"Micro-Stamping" Bill Drafted in Legislature! The Connecticut State Legislature's Joint Committee on Judiciary has drafted a bill that would ban the sale of all handguns not equipped with so-called "micro-stamping" technology.

Senate Bill 353, sponsored by State Senator Martin M. Looney (D-11), has gone from a mere concept discussed by the committee, to an official bill that will likely be scheduled for a hearing soon.

Micro-stamping is an unproven technology that would require identifying information (such as the make, model, and serial number) of a firearm to be etched into the firing pin and breech face in such a manner that those identifiers are imprinted on the cartridge case upon firing. The technology can easily be defeated with common household tools, has no public safety value, and adds substantially to the cost of the firearm.

Hearing to Discuss Fate of Board of Firearm Permit Examiners on Monday! On Monday, March 16, a hearing has been scheduled for Senate Bill 839 in the Government Administration and Elections Committee. Introduced at the request of Governor Jodi Rell (R), SB 839 would have an immeasurable impact on Connecticut's law-abiding gun owners by transferring operations of the Board of Firearm Permit Examiners to the Department of Public Safety.

If approved, an applicant who is denied a pistol permit would have to appeal to the very body, the Department of Public Safety, which rejected the permit. The removal of this currently independent board will make it harder for law abiding gun owners to regain their pistol permits if they have been revoked or denied without proper cause.
The Public Hearing will be held on Monday, March 16, at 9:30 A.M. in Room 2B of the Legislative Office Building (LOB). We encourage all of our members to attend this meeting and voice your opposition to SB839.

Coming after the Church, now the guns. CT FReepers, please contact your State Legislators TODAY and respectfully urge them to defend our Second Amendment rights by opposing SB353 and SB839!

Gun haters to me are like a puppy who is trying to get out of a fence. He will dig at one part, give up, go to another spot, dig at it, go to another part until he finds a hole and gets through.

I just don't understand what goes on in the mind of these anti-gunners. They live in a fantasy world, all they have to do is stop law-abiding citizens from getting guns and automatically criminals won't get them either. They truly believe in fantasyland.

All together again now ----- "I'd like to teach the world to sing, in perfect harrrrrmony.....".

"I hope the NRA has been accumulating funds to fight this sort of crap. "

How many times on how many forums have I read of the sour grapes complaining that the reason they dropped their member ship in the NRA was due to the fact they were receiving solicitations from the NRA to fight the anti-gunners and they were getting tired of it. Oh how the liberal left love these kind of gun owners.

I'm a Life Member of the NRA and contribute monthly. I also give when they ask for extra help ( if I can afford it). NRA would have a lot more funds if they would quit trying to pursuade members to give by offering "ROBERT E. LEE knives (made in China), insulated coffee mugs(made in China) that stink so bad if you put something hot in them you gag. I have had it with all the silly crap they try to push on members. Like I stated, I am a Life Member. I had a call the other day recruiting me to join!!!! Don't they keep any records?? I lost my cool and cussed him for the off spring of a female hound. I guess I shouldn't have done that but I did. I'll continue to support the NRA, but I'll be more agressive to any calls I receive. Had enough in SC.

At the same meeting SB-358 as well as SB-353.

SB-0358 AN ACT PROHIBITING THE POSSESSION OR FIRING OF ASSAULT WEAPONS OR MACHINE GUNS BY MINORS. — To prohibit the permanent or temporary transfer of an assault weapon or machine gun to a person under eighteen years of age. - See OLR 2009-R-0027

    *** NOTICE *** Public Hearing, Monday 16 March 10am, LOB Room 2C

    (2) Any person who transfers, sells or gives any assault weapon to a person under eighteen years of age in violation of subdivision (1) of this subsection, including the temporary transfer of such weapon to such person for use in target shooting or on a firing or shooting range or for any other purpose, shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of six years, which shall not be suspended or reduced and shall be in addition and consecutive to the term of imprisonment imposed under subdivision (1) of this subsection.

    CT assault weapon definition:
Sec. 53-202a. Assault weapons: Definition. (a) As used in this section and sections 53-202b to 53-202k, inclusive, "assault weapon" means:

    (1) Any selective-fire firearm capable of fully automatic, semiautomatic or burst fire at the option of the user or any of the following specified semiautomatic firearms:...

    ------------------------------------------------------

    # SB-839 AN ACT CONCERNING MERGERS AND CONSOLIDATIONS OF VARIOUS STATE AGENCIES. — Proposed by the Governor’s office to first place the BOARD OF FIREARMS PERMIT EXAMINERS into the Department of Public Safety, and remove 100% of its funding. *** See Section 30 of the bill. Governor's original plan is to eliminate the board in 2012.

    *** NOTICE *** Public Hearing, Monday 16 March 9:30am, LOB Room 2B

IMPORTANT if for some reason a person is denied a permit, the risk is there will be NO board to appeal. You would probably have to sue in court.

VIDEO of the Judiciary Committe Hearings held on March 17, 2008 at the State Capitol on the "Microstamping" and "Coding of Ammuntion Bills" A very good video of testimony including members of the firearms industry and Police Forenics — testimony is at 1:11:49 (time on counter). You can fast foward to the time by moving thecapsule in the center and then fast fowarding or rewinding. Carolton Chen a VP at Colt gives testimony at 7:46:39

Why don't we micro-stamp the right and left index finger of politicians so that when they channel money from drug , terroist, and other special interest organizations, their buddys in the democratic party can tip them off when when federal agencies are on to them?

    legislative nutcases

We even had one state legislator here in Alabama (female) put forward a bill requiring microstamping and serialization of all bullets (projectiles). To top it all off, the bill would have required all retail stores and individuals possessing unstamped bullets (loaded or not) to immediately surrender them. Fortunately it did not go anywhere, but this nonsense keeps popping up and will continue to until they get this crap passed. Guess she never realized that some people cast their own...
