    Mauser Barrel Marks

    Hi
I have posted about this before in a larger post, but I never received any definite answers.

I am wondering what these marks are on my KAR98K Mauser barrel are. I also want to know if the rear sight base is attached to the barrel or is actually apart of the barrel or if it is removable? Ill add pictures of both below.

The rear sight base is put on before the front sight and is silver soldered in place.
I don't make out what the marking are you are asking about on the bbl, but one photo looks like the rifle ser nr?

The markings I was asking about are the ones in photo 2. It looks like a 115 with an arrow and a star, or it could be a pickax and star? Or it could be a T and a star?

    Question

The 115 looks like it is stamped over 2??. I can not see the mark above it to tell what it is.

I've had them off before, it was lead solder. Just remove screws and heat...but not meant to be removed by the user.

I could upload a second photo of the marking above the 115 (or 112).
