    Ive been checking out some woodworking forums, particularly forums where they are talkin g about making guitars. Seems some brands of tung oil will do this if applied too thickly. It was scorching hot the days i applied it, seems it has soaked up a lot of oil then pushed some of it out, particularly the drying agent from the timber and it has dried on the surface.

    I will dry buffing the surface with 0000 steel wool and hit it with beeswax, but since i wiped the residue off a few days ago, it has not returned, though the timber is noticibly dry and patchy again
