    The 8mm clips are very rare. The Germans issued the rifle with 2-3 clips and told the troops to pick up the clips.

    I recall seeing a photo of the altered clip but have not been able to locate it. I believe they simply cut the rear portion on both end so it opens up enough to fit the 8mm cartridge.

    Here is a photo with description from my book on Carcanos (highly recommended the book is titled "the model 1891 Carcano rifle", lots of good photos and descriptions). Apparently there was two different types, one made from original Carcano clips and the other newly made.
