My very first G 43 is coming home to daddy tomorrow.

Have always wanted a G 43, they are so expensive that I just pretended they didn't exist for a long time. A couple of days ago one popped up and I just held my nose, handed them the money and pretended I didn't just spend that much on a gun I will rarely shoot. The stock has been on sanded, matches receiver, but bolt carrier does not match receiver. And very anxious to pick up tomorrow and have already ordered A shooting kit for the internal parts. Any other G 43 owners out there with advice, words of comfort at spending over $2000 for a military surplus rifle?

I was the same way with my K43 a few months ago. It came up on gunboards for a really, really good price. It took everything I had to post "I'll take it." Even more so once I had to send the postal orders.

But I'm glad I did. Because you now own one of the most difficult to acquire of the 3 main semiauto rifles of WWII. The other two will seem cheap in comparison!

Good luck with it, and if you decide to shoot it, post a video!
    Looking forward to pics!

Meant to say stock is not sanded.

SVT40 and the much more difficult to own/find SVT38z
    M1icon Garand.
G43/K43 and the even more rare G41.

Did Britainicon or Italyicon not have semi auto infantry rifles?

Just be aware that the extractor assemblies can bee somewhat difficult to find.

This is possibly because the "factory" design is a bit sub-par when it comes to retention.

I saw quite a few of these around back in the "good-old-days" here in Oz; most were missing the extractor assembly and spare parts were non-existent.

    And here:

I have fired both the K-43 and G 41, a lot less recoil and less violent extraction with the G 41 (used original Germanicon 7,92mm) These are nice WW2 collector rifles.

Notice how the SVT disappears after WW2, not even used in Korea nor Viet Nam ?

The SVT had a fair bit of issues. In particular the fact that the rifles were very difficult to clean (especially in field conditions), lacked reliability, and was very picky on ammo all had a significant effect on how long it was in use. The people who used them most I would say was likely Finlandicon who kept using them well into the 50s/early 60s.

    Cool

I got my first G 43 in about 1954 or 55 to hunt deer with. It replaced my 1944 K98kicon.
I have hunted deer, elk, coyotes and misc other varmits with a 43 ever since. I have 2 mismatch shooters, one is 8mm and the other I rebareled to 7.62 Nato. Also have a repro scope mount & a ruskie SVT scope to use on them.
    I also collect G u. K 43s and currently have 12 or 15 of them, 4 or 5 with scopes.
Here is an old photo of the heard.

    I'm drooling, really.
    Maybe one day......
I've put my eyes on a perfect SVT at 400 €, but I just bought two South American Mausers and must refrain a bit.
