A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Yes, line throwing for sure. That object will have the ballistic qualities of a live salmon...

That thing looks flexible, but sturdy. Maybe it inflates with the blast and is intended to stay afloat in the water. For whatever reason.

found this - 1944 Soldiers of the 7th AAF at their base in the ,Marianas about to do some deep sea fishing after rigging a line carrying wooden float to a rifle grenade launcher

"ballistic qualities of a live salmon." - Flying Fish in Seattle Pike Place Market - not a very flat trajectory, low velocity and poor penetration unless frozen

I suspect that salmon was thrown by the bloke on the left and the bloke in the black T shirt behind the counter is readying his hands for the catch.

The lady --- she asked, 'Do you have any whole Salmon?'
Black T-shirt shouted, 'Yo, gimme me a whole one!'
