MAUSER HSc 7.65mm War time E/N value

Found this Mauser pistol. Might be a bring back from WWII serial #796,XXX from fourth series of wartime production around 1943-44. After a little research similar condition commercial pistols where used and purchased by Germanicon military when military issue was depleted. My neighbor has this from there estate to sell or surrender. I want to save it for some collector. I have no interest in it. They need the $ for a elderly parents living expenses. Any interests or estimated value would be appreciated. Seen a few in 95% condition sold for around $500 US

Might be considered an officer's pocket pistol. Without military acceptance marks, they are a harder sell no matter what the story. Appears this one has altered grips which doesn't help value either. I'm not real big on handguns, have a little experience with these because they come up in local auctions a good bit. Most seem to go in the $200-$300 range. I watched one go for over $600 because two nephews at an estate sale wanted their uncles gun. Kind of crazy but it was what it was.
