Thought you guys might like to comment on a weird stock on an ebay auction...

Not sure if its kosher to post the link so I won't.

It appears to be a hand carved/modified stock, with the cheekpiece removed, flipped and mounted backwards for a left handed shooter. You can see where the bracket doesn't quite fit. All the finish has been mostly scrubbed off the metal. The fasteners don't look period but not sure. Reworked to suit the owner much later than the 40's and far from original? Seems to be gaining steam with a couple experienced bidders in there.

    Opinions?

It looks OK to me though, it's a rough as they come. The back end has been hogged a but but the highwood is OK. The butt can be removed and replaced correctly as they used those book cover screws to hold it on. It almost looks like the stock metal has been chromed and allowed to rust again. The oiler sure looks chrome. Still, it looks like the wood is right, rough but right.
