12 - 41 Winchester

I am getting older and I am starting to sell off my collection I have had a decent offer on my 41 winchester. I am just having trouble letting it go because I am scared I if I regreted selling it I do not think I could find anither one replace it. So I thought I wuold post some pics and get opinions. The rifle is correct maybe orginal except for the SA open box buttstock the knobs on the short pinion rear sight. the numbers on the gas tub are early for the rifle and I do not think the sight seal is winchester

I leaning towards keeping it but the thought of kicking the bucket and my wife selling it to some guy for 6 or 8 hundred dollars and then that guy busting it upto sell the parts makes me sick

If you do sell it make peace with the fact you won't find another. But once you're gone, you can't control what happens to it. I sold mine to a young man that will likely keep it. When he's my age, the gun will have had two owners through about 80 years...comforting to think that way.

If you are worried about replacing it, then do not sell it. But, you must ask yourself WHY you want to sell it. Do you need money for medical expenses, food, housing, etc? Do you ever shoot it or does it just sit in the safe or in the gun rack? Does it EARN you any money, while you own it? If you want to keep it, but are worried about your wife not getting full value, then have it appraised and keep the record with the rifle, along with the names and contact information of people who can assist your wife in attaining it's full value and not get taken advantage of. Same can go for other items you may have.

I have a December 1941 Winchester....1374XX. Have slowly been putting it back to all Winchester parts. I know it will never be original, again. Found a quite good Winchester barrel, which cost a little mor than a CMP service Grade rifle in 2012!!! Have an un-cartouched Winchester stock. You can really feel the difference.
