    So, he shot the rifle at 750 yds, no problem...so what? Did it go bang? High end reproduction scope?

    The front pad does look to be installed very neatly! Strange the builder would stamp an "S" on the cutoff boss and not even try to put a "TR" on the left cheek. My first fake T the perpetrator was so proud of his TR's that he placed 3 of them on the rifle.

    OK I'll take the bait;

    It is definitely a real No4MkI(T) sniper fitted with a repro scope & mount (as stated in the ad).

    Other than the non-standard (T) stamping (which has been noted on a number of guns in the past) and the repro scope I don't see what your issue is other than the "TR" marking?

    The missing "TR" may have been removed, lightly struck, never struck or merely covered in paint - blowing the pics up shows some type of marking low on the butt socket.

    Part of the reason he has incorrectly listed it as a Savage is probably because of the C prefix (a common enough mistake), and the (to my mind) desirable Savage MkI/I rear sight.

    I agree with Lee Enfield that it is a genuine 4T. I suspect might be one of the BSA 'less telescope' rifles that someone has felt the need to 'improve' with a receiver side wall 'T'.

    Funny place to stamp the T on the receiver though and does not look like the correct serif like mine also a M47C BSA, what was the issue with the front pad!
    Thats where my S is stamped denoting it has been sighted by the armourers for open sights.
    I am wondering if it is has lost its scope & bracket.

    He also claims that the repo mount is original.

    The photo's show limited views but IIRC I don't think there was a scope number stamped into the butt - again making me wonder if someone with a little knowledge felt the need to make it 'better' by adding a T. After all, everyone knows that all real 4T's have a 'T' stamped on them somewhere around there on the rifle body!!
