I have a Swedish Mauser m96 serial number 159933, any idea when it was made? Thanks

Swedish Mausers have the year clearly stamped on the receiver ring. If there is no such stamp on your rifle, then there is something odd about it...

See "Crown Jewels" P. 147:

1905 Start: 152454 End: 176625.
That is close to 2000 per month. So assuming a fairly constant rate of production, your rifle would have been made around April 1905.

Thanks,I see the 1905,I doubted the weapon was 112 years since the condition is very nice.In my ignorance I thought this might be an identifier not related to the production date,since I live in California this rifle still was registered even though an antique.I would like to buy or download a manual, is something available? I found 10 pages with some good info. This was from a large volume printed in the 50's.thanks again for the help.

It's not an antique. It was made in 1905. To be an antique, it had to be made in or prior to 1898. Has nothing to do with the date of the model or the design, actual manufacture date.

Hard to find a seawater port in Switzerland, among other differences.

Things they do have in common, good steel and males from both counties like to get ripped. How the weather in your part of Canada these days?

I don't usually have problems but I too get that crossed up and I am a history buff and serious reader.

My wife has a 32 caliber semi auto she inherited, I tracked it down, made in pre WWI. I tho0ugh it was a display item as the firing pin was lame. My brother had a modern version of it (Baby Browning) and said that was normal. He also had some ammo so we shot it. Shoots fine.

How it got from Europe to the US and then into her mothers hands which was her duty pistol when she was in the CG in WWII (inspector and I suspect no one messed with her if she is anything like my wife!)

Finish is really worn but it functions just fine.

Thanks RC 20. My 1901 CG was factory refurbished and got a new stock (crown under pistol grip). It was apparently never reissued and still looks (and shoot...) like new. All parts number match (sole exception is the new butt plate). Here are some more pics :

Looks good. 8/10 shots are in a group that, if properly centered, would give a 98/100 score. The two furthest to the right (8 and 6) are probably "User error".

Drift the foresight blade too the right about 0.5mm and shoot another group.
