You're right, Patrick. This target dates from when I switched to a higher front sight (the rifle shot way too high at 100 m with the original blade, sights being originally set at 300 m). I filed the new blade down to hit POA and have since pushed it +/- 0,3 mm to the right to center). Old eyes, iron sights, underground range with artificial light make for an uncomfortable combination, hence some flyers due to aiming fatigue. If it weren't for respecting the rifle's integrity and good looks, I might envision going to a diopter sight (original exist for the M96 but I'd hate drilling the receiver).

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Yeah, I forgot to correct for the sight radius in my previous post. The theoretical correction should have been 0.5 x 0.65, i.e. about 0.32mm. So your correction is spot-on.

Oh! Please don't do that! There is no known way to undrill holes, only to fill them.

As for aiming fatigue, I close my eyes for several seconds before taking aim for a new shot. I then have a few seconds to aim and fire before it all starts to go fuzzy. The typical effect is that the foresight becomes blurred as the focus is captured by the target. I have found that one of the most difficult acts of self-discipline when shooting is to realize that the sight picture is going bad, to take one's finger off the trigger and eyes off the sights, relax, and try again with refreshed eyes. All too oft one tries to force it, is overcome by the "what the hell" feeling, fires anyway, and produces a lousy shot.

Funnily enough, participating in quick-fire competitions has taught me that you have a lot more time than you think, and in slow-fire competitions most shooters tend to shoot too fast.

Dear moderators and anyone else who can help.

I wanted to edit my previous post, and write "tries" instead of "treis". But when I press the edit button I get an empty box, as if I wanted to create a new message - no sign of the contribution I want to edit. This has happened a couple of times before, without me being able to deduce any causality (time of day? phases of the moon? whatever?)

Any suggestions as to what causes this effect?

P.S. I made typos in this post, but was able to correct them. But still not the original post. Baffling!

With the relative few that were sent to Finlandicon in their conflict with Russiaicon, the Swedishicon Mausers were not used in war leading to a generally very good condition.

I have one, an 1898 year model, that apparently has been through an arsenal reconditioning at least once due to mismatched parts, such as stock rings, buttplate ect. The receiver, bolt, cocking piece and associated parts there match. My pride and joy is a 1900 year model, made by Mauser Oberndorf for the Swedes. This one has a two digit serial number and all serial numbered parts including the stock match. From some material learned over on the Swedish rifle forum, it appears to be one of a special run of 5000 made by Mauser.
