Yes. Earlier Daimler receivers were marked with a 'D' and later ones were marked with their dispersal code 'M 67'.

But other than that, was it exactly the same group of companies, in the same relationship with each other, who made the Bren marked with "D" and "M67"?

Yes is the simple, no different to Enfield moving from the Enfield and crown Mark to the ED.
This is possibly where the misunderstanding of Enfield making the Mk2, the D for Daimler being confused with the ED of Enfield.
