BSA No1 knox forum stamp unknown to me

i got this rifle a few months ago, its in pretty rough shape, but honestly i like Lee Enfields that look like this one over the new looking ones, well i don't like the pitting in the metal, but i LOVE the look of the wood

so mostly i have the rifle figured out, it was made in 1935-36 by BSA as a commercial rifle its serial number 27, seems simple enough. until i looked at the knox form.

there is an odd stamp with the letters RPG below it, i didnt think much of the stamp until it was pointed out [by Englishman_ca] that the stamp is where the BSA rifle stack should be placed, but instead BSA had moved the location of their rifle stack and put this unknown stamp in its place

so i wonder what this stamp it, since BSA would have had to change their stamp setup for this run of rifles,

so the questions are, Where were these rifles going and what does that stamp mean also what do the letters stand for. and how often did BSA move their stamps around on the knox form to accommodate other peoples stamps?

Hmm... the crest does look Portuguese.... the West Africa country of Guinea-Bissau was formerly the colony Portuguese Guinea till 1974 - it was known by the Portuguese as "Republica Portuguesa Guine".
The pitted condition of the metal would be consistent with use in that climate.

That post is pretty much what i was looking for. Although i cant find any thing about smle's going there or any BSA contract for them. Also i cant seem to find the stamp/crest anywhere online. There was atleast 27 rifles in the order assuming mine was the last one made, so its very likley there was more then 27. Anyone have any more ideas or info, or can atleast point me ij the correct direction. Ill keep looking into Republica Portuguesa Guine.

I assume BSA made a production run for the Portuguese because the BSA emblem is placed unusually high to allow the crest below it, as you say in your 1st post, and therefore I expect it was made in .303 cal... but can you check the calibre e.g. by chambering a .303 round?

Google Portugal wiki entry and the Portugese crest is very similar to the one in the OP.
