I have a chromed 1907 bayonet like those ........ somewhere. I'll have to dig it out.

I have seen several 1907 bayonets for sale at militaria fairs etc that have been chromed up and after careful examination I can confirm that they do look like tat, to put it politely. I've never purchased a chromed 1907 bayonet because I'm not convinced that all of the examples offered for sale were chromed while still in military service. I suspect that sometimes it may have been done in an attempt to cover up a corroded blade.

It's clearly shorter than the standard blade, and the point is different too.
A close look at the picture in the Daily Telegraph confirms that the swivels have all been removed. There also seems to be at least one Indian-type sight protector without the dogleg. Here is the Canadian
Prime Minister at the time, Stephen Harper, visiting in 2014. Either a different set of rifles or they had not got round to chroming them.

Top pic you can see the sixth blade down is short too. It's the only one you can see. They've been cut down like an alternate Owen bayonet. I had one of those pre digital...no pics.

Poor old Steven looks a bit disheveled too, and in need a new jacket. Some of those bayos look like they have a bowie tip and some don't - and they all look equally unsuited to the rifle.

Lower pic rifles seem to have no swivels at all on them.

Looks like they've got cartridge belts around their waists too, full of shiny cartridges. I think that they're just bulled-up rifles and bayonets taken out for VIP visitors. We used to do the same. Rifles painted gloss black, handguards varnished, slings and belts whitened, teeth cleaned etc etc. Been there, done that, hated it!

I do have a bayonet similar to the ones shown. Some idiot has bent it slightly and I'm figuring out the best way to straighten it.
I did once rebuild some SMLEs that had been gold plated for someone in those sandy places.
