    Milled 03 follower

This is a milled follower that came off of my son's sporterized 1903.

The stamps sort of confuse me (at my age not surprising).
If the "44" is a date stamp then that seems very late in the war for a milled follower since the stamped followers were introduced in 1942.
The upper stamp appears to be an incomplete "Ordnance Bomb".
Any ideas, comments, or thoughts. What about a possible manufacturer.

    Thanks

    Hi Bear,
It a Rock Island Arsenal part. I had a 03 bolt sleeve that had an ordnance bomb and 30 or 36 below it on the right side. After doing some research I find that how RIA marked some of their smaller part. The number is some type of index or part number and not a date of manufacture.
