    Foreward/Aft Movement In Stock

My new rifle has some foreward to aft play in the stock when the TG is out. (32d inch maybe) How critical is this to accuracy? There is no side to side play. I was hoping to shoot this rifle JCG match-cant shim anything. TIA H

Homer03, the best would be "no" play at all. yours does not sound real bad, but its not going to get better. I've seen some with an 1/8 of an inch. a lot of the play comes from taking the action in and out of the stock over and over again. the receiver legs tend to dig out the stock. thats why most shooters don't like removing them from the stock when they find one that shoots good. if you have a good tight lock up, than it may hold up for a while. if the rifle shoots good, than your ok. now if you think its not as good as it should be, than try another stock if you have one. or a cheap trick to test out the stock. shoot it as is, off a rest. then take masking tape and tape over the receiver legs and trigger group floor plate, to shim it untill its all tight. then try shooting it again. if the group is better than you need a stock. this is a test, not to shoot in a JCG match, its not legal. if you do want to shoot in the matches on a regular basis, than by a stock. the CMPicon stocks are pretty good for the money. good luck and hold hard!!!
