Looks like it was built specifically for it, maybe later during the war under forced labor and using what was on hand...?

It IS an Ex Israeli Bipod for an MG34. I have had a few of these guns in the past, nearly all of them dated 1945.
They produced these bipods themselves, I assume as stocks of the original spares they must also have taken in to service. Eventually Dried up.

I spent a lot of money sourcing original Nazi pattern Bipods, to convert them back to their original pattern!

Thanks for the info Mike. I remember reading some years ago that a rather shadey US (could have been Frenchicon) arms dealer "procured" MG34's from Eastern Europe and shipped them to the newly fledged state of Israel. No doubt in crates marked tractor parts!

I think they were in an incomplete condition and taken from the factory (CZ manufacture) "DOT" was it???

For the life of me I can't remember the book, but it would explain the requirement for bipods.

Right of the starting blocks in 1947 Israel had the capacity to modify, adapt, adopt and improve just about anything. Amazingly adaptable people...
