At least in the US I seem to mostly find those with the leather case, like my pair was. The bakelite case is super cool, but no idea of value. My pair and I believe most sets I encounter have the area above the "6x30" scratched off. I seem to recall my examples having "dienstglas" marked elsewhere, or maybe mine didn't have what was above it as vigorously removed, I'll try and locate pictures. If the optics are clear they are still perfectly good binoculars, I still have a post war set made by Zeiss Jena to similar spec that are my beaters.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Some pics below regarding the straps and two different makers of the binocular, the Zeiss are as light as feather compared to the Busch ones ??? Deinstglas I was told by a Germanicon speaking collector was a rough translation to "Military Optics" ?? as mentioned in a previous post a lot I've seen have this scrubbed out, also the eagle and swastika......

I'm not up on prices but German stuff in the UKicon does demand a high premium, the two pair's I have were very cheap due to condition etc...... the inside on one pair were in need of a good clean and came out perfect, the other needed a lens re cementing. Main reason for these are for kit to go along the German Sniper rifle I'm building (long term project) the case was £50 two years ago at the W&P show.

There is a militaria fair that I go to a couple of times a year in the U.K. and a German dealer always comes over with a large amount of interesting German WW2 kit, including binoculars. The trouble is none of his stuff has a price marked on it, so you have to ask the price, and I know from asking the price of items previously, that whatever the item is, it is going to be expensive and out of my budget. The funny thing is, I've never noticed him sell much to anyone else either.

At the Birmingham International there is a dealer who deals in just Germanicon stuff, in the last 10 years I don't think his stock has had any considerable changes........
