A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. So, same as the other thread, it's a sporterized 303, originally WW1 issue. Probably sporterized after WW2 by one of the groups that did them...Parker Hale for instance. Nice looking hunting rifle but no collector value. The rifle is going to fetch about $150 CDN around here. The rear sight is nice except it's rusted. It could bring more by it's self, maybe $200 CDN or so here(cleaned up). You could try to put it on Canadianicon Gun Nutz and sell the sight separate from the rifle but it doesn't appear there's any other rear sight. It would likely shoot nicely...comfortably. If you try and tell people you want $350 CDN or thereabouts in this area you'll get no bites I should think. It's a sporter .303 they'll say...
    Regards, Jim

I'd have to agree with the other post. Here in the US it would go for $175 at the high end. With it being sporterized and no rear sight except for the Parker Hale Target sight. If you tried to sell the target sight alone, then your stuck with a rifle with no rear sight.

Both answers are IMHO correct. The P-H backsight has the desirable variable (switched) aperture. Oil it and rub it down very carefully with 0000 wire-wool and you have something worth 150-200 (value here in Mauserland). But a sporterized Enfield without backsight would mean looking for a backsight that would cost as much as the rifle is worth - seriously sub-100. So you have a good backsight with a low-value rifle attached.

Anyway, over here (I don't know your market) the only use for a sporterized rifle is as hunting or plinking rifle with a scope or a red-dot sight fitted. Thee days, iron sights are only used by milsurp shooters, and they are not interested in sporters. Sporterized milsurps are worth very little indeed.

    Part it out.
