    Question Who made the barrel?

    HI this is reddevel a new member I have found the first item on my bucket list its a M1icon S.A.Garand 6 digits Aug 1942 Ser# 798050 it saw service in WW11 and korea I have had local Gunsmith put it back in firing order and cant wait to get to our local range and put a few clips through it . Barrel markings are D6535448 (F) 4-56 -AY-PM it Has a bright chamber not parkerized with reimport markings from Korea ARL ORD Arlington Va lightly struck even my local gunsmith could not tell for sure who made the barrel any ideas ?     Barrels marked this way are believed to be a post war MAP contract item and made by Ferro Machine & Foundry.

    Ferro Machine and Foundry

    "AY" was the production identification for Ferro.
    They also made a good number of parts for the M-1 rifle.
    Most barrels were dated in 1956.

    Not that common to find a Ferro M1icon rifle barrel, years ago I saw a photo of a Model 1918A2 barrel with the circle F and dated 5-56
