Sweet rifle and deal! If it were mine, I'd polish the bolt and call it good!

Got a chance to shoot the "sporter" today.
I haven't worked up a load for the rifle, but did have half a box (well, 9 rounds) left of some Hunting Shack 175 gr 30.06 ammo. I fired a 5 round group and my son finished off the other 4 rounds

Cosine #27 just go into edit post highlight the bottom section which is the one that came up twice once highlighted hit delete then re-submit the bottom one will then be gone....
To highlight hold Rt mouse button down start at the beginning of text drag through to the end the text should be in a coloured section then hit delete - just in case you do not know how to block delete other wise just place the cursor at the start of the text and hold the delete button down till it all goes then re-submit just thought I would throw that in for all I know you could be an I.T wizard

Hi Cinders,
Thanks for the advice. When I post there is a window/spot at the bottom of the post, that says "Edit Post" but after a period of time passes, it goes away and I can no longer edit.
I am by no means s GURU.

The receiver appears to be blued. If so, more evidence that it is a NRA Sporter since the NM 1903 rifles were Parkerized ( at least the ones in this serial number range were ).

That is a good point. The rifle definitely is blued.
Also, John Beard, over on the CMP forums, was able to trace the star gauge code on the barrel and confirm that this is an authentic NRA Sporter.
