I've seen them but will stay with the original model, just me though. I had my first one so far back it had darker wood and no hold open...long time ago. There have been a few since too.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. I like the idea of taking it backpacking. If I ever start backpacking.

I really like the idea of the takedown models with the integrally suppressed barrels. Magpul makes a really slick stock for them too that kind of combines it all nicely into one package but I believe it only works with a factory barrel. To be honest I am not all that fond of the 10/22 compared to my Glenfield (Marlin), but the aftermarket support is tough to beat. I have one that has been refit with a walnut stock I bought cheap, swivels, USGI sling, and TechSights aperture sights and is my main training gun, though I don't take it out as often anymore.

So is it this little beasty that is causing all the concern, small enough to be concealed as a reason, or is there something smaller I have missed that will take the 25 round magazine?? Don't suppose I wild bear would care one way of the other up there in the woods

That's one of the little guys. We do have some of them available here, although I'd far rather have the full length rifle. It doesn't really have anything to do with anything. It's just a matter of pulling the dog's teeth so you can whip him without getting bitten.

I'll pass on the suppressed barrel I think. I did find two of them at a gun show today. I didn't purchase but I did get to pick them up and see how they feel. Both the flash hider version and the stainless barrel were there. I really like the way the little gun feels. Going to continue to do some research, Mike is going to look into them for me and I'm looking at a stock upgrade as well. Not in a huge rush but feeling like a future purchase is definitely on the horizon.
