    Possible Mexican 1936 Bayonet

Spent a good deal of time researching this one and the best fit seems to be Mexican although it is short at 277mm compared to the normal 387mm.

The birds head, the serial number placement and the circle z are all characteristics of the Mexican produced bayonets. My book shows it is used on both the full length and short rifles but does not say they were shortened for the long rifles.

If anyone can confirm one way or the other for a proper ID, I'd appreciate it.

I thought that circle "Z" was an indication of Czechicon manufacture, possibly for export?

Circle Z is the BRNO mark for the Czechicon's but these are supposedly made by Mexico, not a Czech export. But as I am not 100% sure this is Mexican, it could indicate a Czech export bayonet. But they are almost all of the VZ23 or VZ24 types which has the short muzzle ring.

Anyone know what the circle "A" means then? Perhaps it was refurbished in Mexico with a taller cross piece being fitted?

All sources I've read said Mexico made these as they are not quite up to par for Czechicon manufacture.

I've got this one and although not exactly the same as yours it does have the tall muzzle ring/cross piece. This was sold to me, I think?, as Turkishicon but this hasn't been confirmed.

That is definitely Turkishicon. Has the ASFA mark on it.

I believe your bayonet is a Mexican Model 1910. If I remember correctly the example in my collection is marked Republica Mexicana. I thought I had some photos but they must be on my computer at home. The way the serial number is oriented on the pommel is 100% Mexican.

Any markings on it? Looks to be in a fair better condition than mine.
