Installing AA sights on Type 99 Arisaka

    Hello,

I have a 2nd Series Nagoya Type 99 that didnt come with the AA sights. I purchased a Receiver(12th Series Kokura) that I have other plans for, but it came with AA wings. I have a few questions:

On the receiver's sight latter, there's a little notch were the AA sights are held when they are up. (See the first picture Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet ) Is there a away for me to remove the notch and install it on the sights on my primary rifle?

If not, how do I remove the screw on the top right so I can remove the sight slide and put in on my primary rifle? Do i have to apply heat to it? I tried to unscrew it and I don't want to strip the head anymore then Ive already done.

    Thanks.

There is no 12th Kokura . So if you do have a Kokura the sight may not fit a Nagoya . They can be not an "interchangeable part ' . I think the notch you are talking about is the spring . Your best bet is to use the whole sight slider on your sight .

Buckshot, Bob Q is eight-- just replace the whole sight/leaf assembly. Drive out the pin at the back end of the sight base and switch out the leaf/slide. Some may complain that it is from a different factory but it's better than not having a sight. Salt Flat

How do I do that? Theres a pin/screw on the top left of the ladder that's preventing the slider from coming out. How do I remove that? I tried to unscrew it but didnt want to budge. Do I have to apply heat to it?

Buckshot, You should not take the small screw out. Easier to replace the WHOLE sight. Drive out the crosswise pin at the back end of the sight and the whole ladder and slider will come off the base. Salt Flat
