    photobucket problems

I was going over a thread on the HMVF and my pics have been replaced by a something from photo bucket that looks like a speedo and states 3rd party hosting has been temporally blocked, I went into my account and nothing is mentioned. There is another web address that I can go to but thought I'd ask here if its a scam etc ?

Photobucket in their infinite wisdom has decided to no longer allow third party hosting, their primary reason for existing, unless you pay $400 a year for it. So on top of the adds, popups, and scripts that don't work, you now need to pay for the luxury of using Photobucket for it's primary purpose Because that worked so well for Imageshack, who went from not even needing an account, to being free with an account, to requiring money for hosting, and thus was promptly was abandoned as the image host of choice. Tinypic is still free but is complete garbage to use.

I am currently using puush to host images, which is fast, free, and easy but they only host images for something like 60 days or 6 months. However, that works fine here as a copy is automatically made and rehosted on the forum to preserve it. For longer term solutions I believe there are some other sites out there but have no researched the,.

I wish I could help you but I'm pretty much in the same boat.
Some forums won't allow picture hosting sites like Photobucket...etc.
Because pics get deleted, leaving a post/thread without the needed picture.
I'm now trying to figure out how to store pics on my home PC's.
Hoping my son the IT can help me with when he has time.

I sure think of and miss Harlan when stuff like this hits a one finger typist who uses his thumb for the shift key.
    Really miss my little buddy.

When you post a link to an image here (photobucket, etc) it is imported and saved. So, no lost pictures in threads.

All forum software comes with image uploading these days. If a forum decides to turn it off for whatever reason, I just don’t bother with it. If they don’t want to host it, I don’t post it.

I've never had an issue using Photobucket. I do pay a small amount for extra space. It also eliminates the adds and such.

My photobucket photos are fine. Other than being very slow lately, not had an issue with it. Is this something that happened in the past few days? I haven't posted this week yet.

I have posted using my facebook account also. The photos were larger. I just am not extremely comfortable posting photos of firearms through facebook.

I've always used Microsofts Windows Photo Gallery program, great bit of stuff with the ability to do some pretty fancy editing.
But that was on the old XP, don't know about the new system, still trying to get my head around that one.

But what I have done is turn an old XP into a photo and file storage, Only connect to the Internet if I want to post pic's, though I can always download from storage to a Windows 10 to post.

I use imgur and have not had an issue so far and it is much easier and reliable than photobucket in my experience

Heck, I can't even log into my PB account anymore. Time to move to Imgur!
