I think it was the FADEC that was the issue when the Intelligence Comunity flew into a hill in Scotland travelling back Ireland, thats why we became apprehensive of the project here in the UKicon

Didn't some of the Chinooks that were taken out of service in Canadaicon get rebuilt/refurbished and then sold onto another country?

I remember the first one that I ever saw on the ground, at the Naval dockyard at Sembawang(?) in Singapore in 1968 or 69 and had flown in from a US Navy carrier. It looked huge! And to think that we were still being ferried about in old Whirlwinds and the UKicon 'version' of the chinook, the belvedere............ Archaic or what!

Did you ever fly in the Belvedere Helicopter, Peter? Bristol Belvedere - Wikipedia

I thought that it was made by Westland but according to Wikipedia it was made by Bristol.

I think Bristol evolved in to Westland Helicopters along with a number of other manufacturers which probably means Westlands became the Eng Authority.

I seem to recall that the one which is at Hendon being labeled up as being made by Westland? It's interesting to read that it has inter-rotating rotors, as does the Chinook.
