My K98, The Start Of A Deep Love

Well Gentlemen, this rifle is the first Mauser I owned and thus the one which brought the "disease" upon me.
I got it from a guy nearby who needed to free some space in his safe for new Carcano's (he's got over 160...), so he was quite willing to sell me his Mauser with the bayonet and a practically virginal bore.
It is a Yugo booty rifle, so it has the Yugo crest and only here and there some WAA.
The rifle shoots great, better than me, and is smooth as silk to operate.
I have used it very little because........I don't know why, but it's been like that until now.
After shooting it again, I could not wait to reload and get back to the range with it.
Since here it's holiday season and the family is having fun at the sea, waiting for me to take my well earned (at least in my eyes) days off, I'm lone and lonely and so started trying some "different" reloads.
Among them I tried to reload the 8x57JS with Lovex S060-2 powder, which is not listed as one of the powders for this caliber, but which I use on most others like .308W, .303B, 7,62x54R, 7,65x53 and, news of today, 7x57 (it's in the reloading manual of Lovex (Explosia), so I think it will be safe enough to try).
With 44 grs. behind a 196 grs. FMJBT bullet from S&B (2910), I could get really interesting results, closely replicating the original military rounds, at least up to 200 meters.
At 100 I shoot roughly 1,5-2,0 inches over the POA, at 200, setting the rear sight at 200, I just have to keep the 8 inch target on the tip of the front sight and the rounds will land around the bullseye. With the exception of a pulled round to the left when still trying the 100 meters on the rear sight (3 rounds, all under the bullseye aiming at the center of the target), the rest is fairly centred and at the right height (but for the first two shots, delivered aiming like before at the center of the target. After moving under the target, all went where it was supposed to).
Maybe I'll change the original front sight with a flat one, because the triangular shape really makes it hard to aim. Elevation really becomes an issue.
In any ways...great rifle, great round, great fun!

If that is your 200 meter target that is fine shooting

Tried a few rounds at 200 after shooting a K31 and was not happy (tired eyes and more difficult sights), so I moved to 100 meters and was then fairly glad with the old Nazi lady.
the extreme shots (high, left and low) were the 200 meter ones, externally some (3) from a Mosin of a friend of mine who was not hitting a barn at 200 meters. All in all, an acceptable target.
