    03/A3 Bolt:

I have an 03/A3 bolt with both an R and S stamp on the bottom root of handle and 3 digit (heat No) on top of the bolt handle root. Ithas the usual relief cuts on the OD of the bolt. Did SA make new or replacement bolts for the 03/A3

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Yes. Springfield Armory did indeed make '03-A3 style replacement bolts. Follow the link:

And if you click around on that website, you may be able to find pictures of them and other useful information.

    Hope this helps.

    03/A3 Bolt:

John: Followed lead you gave and thought I would pass on what I find on the bolt in questiion. The heat lot number on the handle root is either PO 15 or HO 15. It has the large gas excape hole and shaped safety lug. It also has a milled extractor collar. Finish is a black park or bluing. Thanks for your help. Sandymac.

The steel lot code is "HO 15", and it should appear in the page preceding the link. Follow the link and click on "Previous" at the top.
