    Scopes on M1A1 ???

Hi. I have resently seen a few original M1A1icon stocks with cut outs fore some kind of optikk mounts. I wonder if the are all made after ww2 or can some of them had some kind of optiks during ww2?. I have seen a picture once of a Britishicon soe agent with an M1A1, with something that looks like an ZF41 Scope. Have anyone seen ore heard of something like this? my guess is that somene altered theyr owne guns ?

Can't imagine putting anything on a high grade target rifle like that. Not sure it would be the most stable platform...minute of barndoor...

I think you miss my smart a*s reply... As stated the military didn't do that because those are for parachutists not target shooting. No one in their right mind would scope one. For anything.

Not an SOE agent, it was a M1A1 supplied to Norwegianicon Resistance during the war and modified by them by the fitting of a ZF-41 scope from a K98kicon somehow to or through a hole in the top handguard.
This carbine was presented to Major General Sir Colin Gubbins after the war by members of the Norwegian Resistance and is now on display at the Imperial War Museum in London.
Just the thing for putting round holes in square heads.
