I bought it from Promo, along with its matching transit chest & scope tin, & eventually managed to acquire the matching scope from the person in the UKicon who had bought it from egun. I had intended to keep the rifle for myself, but a waning interest in anything post 1919 (& especially post 1945), & the need to replace my car persuaded me to the contrary.......

P.S. Roy, I apologise for the problems with the scope. I had paid someone to give it a spring clean before I sold it, but apparently there was a part missing internally, & instead of just telling me he did a bodge job & then just gave it me back without saying anything. I understand it's ok now & that our mutual friend who acted as intermediary has made redress on both our (his & my) behalves.

    Best.

Hi Roger, that's no problem. Everything was resolved and I am very happy with the rifle. Just wondered what the original issue date was etc.

    Regards

    Hi Roy,

Rifle V36430 was part of batch number 45, consisting 13 weapons. The records don't list an exact conversion date and all the rifles from that batch are simply recorded as "Dec 1971". Out to store at Donnington.

    Cheers,

    Simon.
