    Entrenching tool shaft marking?

I picked up this entrenching tool shaft to display with No4 Pig Sticker bayonets. It appears to be Britishicon made and of WW2 vintage but it has a "C.F." marking on the metal sleeve. Would I be correct to assume that this marking stands for Canadian Forces or does it stand for something else, please? I can't see a Canadian acceptance marking on it, although I don't wish to strip the paint off to look properly. It recently came from a surplus dealer and so if it was used by Canadaicon there is no telling exactly when.

    Thanks for any information.

Yes, I think so but no sign of a "C" around it.

Now I've been out in the sun.... but with this lap top on it's side, I believe I see a C under that paint. C would be laying on it's left side, So for my example I'll use a U instead of the C.

    4-4-<- U

The C (U example) being tilted

That was what we called ourselves after Unification in about '68/'70. This wouldn't apply here. We didn't mark things with that, just Canadian Arsenals and "C broad arrow"

Are CF and WB makers markings?
I now very little about out of the US markings.

    Interesting though, I did try

    Cheers

I think that the "W.B." is the maker and the "C.F." stands for some something else other than the maker.

CF... Civil Forsvaret (Civil Defense) of Denmarkicon.
Known to 'Recycle' gear from many countries, including Germanicon, after the occupation.

Thanks for finding that painter. I did google "C.F." and I managed to find a list of "possibles" but none that really seemed likely; clearly it didn't stand for "charge full".

These extra bits of information really adds interest to militaria items.

I found their use of different countries helmets. The Dutch used a red stamp (ink) with the royal crown over the CF.... Civilforsvaret

    Helmet example:

Need help! What is this helmet?

This was bought by Denmarkicon for CF use.
