    Stupid question

It has come to my attention that I cannot shoot my 1923 NM at Camp Perry because it has a reverse safety. So, if I shot left handed it would not be reversed right? Who makes up these silly rules anyway?

I can't answer your question, but, if you want an easy solution, just get an extra 1903 Springfield 'striker-assembly' and switch parts for CMPicon Matches.

    Hi sakorick,
I think that I know the rifle you are referring to- the Frankengun. Here are my thoughts as a "Guard House Lawyer" -I believe that it started life as a 1923 NM M1903 and I see no reason it is barred by the Vintage Rifle Rules because it has a reversed safety. Unless you have received direct notification to the contrary I believe that it falls within the rules
Visit this URL and look down to Rule 4.2.3 on page 29 which describes equipment.
    https://thecmp.org/wp-content/uploads/CMPGamesRules.pdf
According to the rules for the M1903, NM rifles with star gauged barrels are authorized as long as the military signs are used. Since your rifle was issued in 1923 with the reversed safety and the headless cocking piece to military teams for use in the Nationals, I do not see why it is disallowed .
    FWIW-IMHO

Sounds like you'll have to submit it for their examination and ruling...
