A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Hi Andy,

If you're referring to the 'C' it denotes the height of the sight. The tallest sights were marked with an 'A' and they went down from there.

I concur with Harlan. The entire front sight assembly was made by Remington. The letter "C" denotes the sight blade height. Sight blade heights were noted by alphabetical letters with "A" being the tallest. Sight blades were selected during targeting to zero the rifle sights.

    Hope this helps.
