Thanks To All ! This Means Alot

I just want all of you who've replied how much I appreciate you taking the time to do so.
I've said this before, but in my opinion if you look long and hard on the internet forums, you won't come across a better group of members.

Cheers to All and Thank You..........

    Kindest Regards,
    Charlie Holland

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Charlie,

You are a true and valued friend. And thanks to all the others who have responded.

It's true, my wife and I met when we were 16 and there has been no other for each of us. A true love at first sight affair that has lasted the test of time. We married a month before I went to Vietnam the first of three tours. My thinking was if I got killed she would at least get the insurance money. Fooled her, she has now put up with me for over 51 years, 49 married. It hasn't been all sunshine and roses. Wounded in Vietnam, our only child, daughter, passed when she was sixteen in 1985, and I've had agent orange health issues. Regular life has it's challenges. We are from an era that worked through things like that. I am blessed to have such a great partner, lover, best friend for all these years.

Charlie knew, but I have been keeping this quiet. I was stage four last year and beat it back. But I went stage four again, last April. This time there is a clock, they say maybe two years from April. I knew this was coming since my first cancer in 2001. Just never had a definite time line. But it's all good. My wife is broken up a bit but I remind her, we just went down to Coronado for my old unit memorial. I have had 49 more years than the men we honor each year at that memorial. My wish is to make our 50th next July.

Attitude and good friends make life's circumstances more bearable. The friends and Carbine family we have here are just a wonderful group.

Thanks to all, especially my buddy Charlie for embarrassing me with this thread. I don't like being the center of attention.

    Jim

    Congratulations Jim.

I'm interested in "Vals" the 1950s style American diner. From the picture in post 1 I assume that it is still in business; has anyone been there recently? I would love to see some more pictures, if possible, please.

Food pics please. My wife doesn't cook, so I love food pics. Up close and personal of their signature dish please.

Congratulations Indeed. Your story reminds me of a Vietnam vet friend who's circumstances are similar to the one you are facing. He shares your positive attitude as well as the good fortune in having a wonderful wife. Hats off to you both.

Happy 49th Jim! Here's hoping form many more.

My wife has put up with me for 20 years. Surely she is hard of hearing by now.
