I want restore my Deactivated Bren MK1 like mrclark work https://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=29784 but in my country only found this product ... birchwood casey perma blue.
Do you recommend it?

Luis, the best way is to bead blast , parkerize and then spray with Suncorite. Perma blue is ok for touch up or small bits, but there are better products

No, Suncorite 259 is a paint, oxpho and perma blue are just bluing products.

There is suncorite 258 which is now called Bonderite O-PC 528 Black RFU ??

I don't know if this replaced 259 but I did email them to ask, some details in the link below, being self-phosphating is an added bonus....

Suncorite 259 is still available in the UK but is ex surplus stock, think the dates are from 2006,

Suncorite is now Bonderite | EMC

For large cold bluing you may want to consider Van's Instant Gun Blue. Warm the parts with a heat gun prior to application for the best results.

A little off topic but does anyone have any photos of Suncorite being applied at any UK facility?

I can take a few of me doing a few rifles in the future, I just use a gravity spray gun, and dilute until I get a spray instead of blobs.... still after a few applications you need to clear the pot of thick goo.
I do mine outdoors, weather permitting and in the UK thats not very often.

Hi Luis,

Big Dukes course of action is the way to go, but, if you need a finish to replicate Suncorite on a wall hanger (that isn't going to be dragged around a field, or bounce about in a jeep), just strip down the Bren, carefully prepare (remember as with most things preparation is everything) and mask off the components you can't strip due to the deactivation process etc.

Use a solvent based de-greaser, dry it off and ensure its dust free, apply a very light coat of primer (preferably black or dark grey) and several coats of good quality aerosol matt black.

Allow the paint to flash off in-between coats, nice even coats is the thing here. Let it all dry for 24 hours and simply buff up with a micro fibre cloth to the desired semi matt finish.
