    Nice Early Underwood Repair

We were talking about stocks that had been modified a while back. This one came into the shop last week and I thought the members would find it interesting. Type one Underwood made by RMC. It still has its high wood.

    Best Regards.....Frank

P.S. It feels good to be back to working on gun stocks!!

Thank you Frank. Great work -- as always on a stock well worth saving!
I'll take that 4.0 Underwood too, if you don't mind!!

Yea There you go Frank !
    Nice solid/strong repair.
With time the Walnut will naturally darken and end up spot on in color.
Best to do as you are now, get it close enough in color and allow for the natural darkening.
Otherwise later on you'll end up with a 'Too dark of a repair'.

Sure nice to see you back in the dust.

    Cheers,
    Charlie-Painter777

There's been a couple Johnson model 1941 rifles on GB with stock repairs similar to this, your work?

    As always, another great repair.

Don't see many stocks like the one shown especially with the high wood remaining.

Charlie -- it was to install a Lyman on a late Inland. It was only drilled & tapped twice. Not as bad as the low number IP receiver I got with SIX holes in it!!!

I could take the Ferry across Lake Michigan to Franks. I'd just have to follow the smell of glue and RLO to find him.
I've only been to Wisconsin a couple of times. Fishing the Northern boundary waters (Menominee River) along the Wisconsin-Northern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Another time a group on us contractors cruised a yacht to see the Milwaukee Brewers beat on our Detroit Tigers.
    Maybe get back sometime..........
