    I need a M38 lower band nut

I need the nut for a M38 lower band but can't find one. I saw a old 2015 post here that mentioned someone making new ones and someone buying one on e-bay.

Does anyone have any information about this.

    Thanks.

I no longer need the complete lower band. Salt Flat turned me on to one on E-bay. The rifle is now together.

    Thanks Salt Flat.

Apologies for necro-ing this thread... Same question folks. If anyone can point me in the right direction for M38 lower band nut (I am even happy to buy an entire lower band, just for the damn nut), it would be fantastic.

I am contemplating making one, but I am trying to avoid doing this, as hard as I can, I'd love an original.

Almost everything shows up on Ebay at some point. When the big parts dealers are out, they don't often get them in again. Someone's always posting something on Ebay. Carcano parts are pretty common. I usually check there first. Then check Numrich, Springfield Arms, liberty tree to see what they are going for if they are available and then bid lower than that on Ebay. If they aren't available anywhere else, then the bids get higher.

If I don't win on Ebay and get tired of waiting, I'll buy them from the big dealers.

Thanks, Aragon. Certainly looks like I'll be watching eBay closely. All the usual suspects seem to be out.

LTC has been out of the rear band with screw and cap for a long time now. Numrich and another don't carry it at all, last time I checked.

That seems to be the most common part that is missing on most M38 Carcanos, not sure why. Fragile construction, perhaps? It was missing on my M38 too.

Ebay currently has a reproduction available that seems popular. I bought it and put it on mine, even though I don't like putting anything modern or reproduced on my C&Rs. The screw is coarse and takes some rattling to fit the right way, but it is fragile and the top will start to tear if you tighten it too hard. It will also cause the swivel to be frozen in one position. In addition, it is a dark grey color, not blued or black like the rest of the hardware, so it appears mismatched. Better than nothing, I guess, and required if you want to mount a sling.
