Maybe its just me and I don't have £15K-£20K, but surely the fact its void of any L96A1 engraving and therefore a PM rifle, would it demand the same high price as a L96A1. ??

I know its the same meat different gravy, but I'm just comparing it with say a WD BSA M20 and a post War BSA M20 same with any other immediate post war bikes, they all lack the WD and don't have a census number and don't demand the same premium.

It's only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. I'd say it's 'worth' £15k, if you had the money and a desire to buy one. They are scarce, no doubt about it, and this one looks in good condition, with the original Police scope as well

Roy, you are correct that's exactly what my serial number is. I'm pleased mine says L96A1 and accepts standard mags. I have noticed the difference between the bottom floor plates of some of my mags. Some have a protruding full lip the entire length of the mag and othe just have wing lips on the floor plate

The ones with wings are the later variant to aid removal.

Did someone also note the weird P.14 fake sniper in the same auction? A crazy estimate at 2000-2500 GBP!

Sorry a bit off this threads topic but didn't know where else to post this. I thought this might interest those looking for a L96A1, sorry a little late though this offer ended last April. I ordered one........has anybody else or was anybody else aware of this re-run of the AW in 7.62mm. We had to put $ down to confirm order and apparently rifles are to be ready late fall 2017. I contacted AI before placing my order to see if any updates were going to be incorporated such as the 6 locking lugs on the bolts of their newer rifles as opposed to the 3 on the AW....no everything remains the same except the stock sides will be available.
Wait till I show up at the next Canadian Ranger shoot and that bolt on the AW just slickly slides back and forth at -40c and all the other Rangers are rummaging around in there snowmobiles looking for their gas line antifreeze to pour a few drops on their frozen bolts of there N04's!!!!! No just kidding that won't happen, we are allowed only to shoot our service weapons at matches.

Our friends across the pond have decided that they will be doing a special, very limited run of Legacy AW rifles in .308 win.

You are quite correct, I had a good look at it it's catalogued as a P14 sniper but just a VERY POOR copy, if someone buys it from the picture then they are in for a very nasty surprise especially when you add the buyers premium + VAT which adds the best part of 30% to the hammer price
