Medina Ohio Gun Show Report

I was there from 10:30 to 2:30 today and visited every table to give you a report of what I found as compared to the reports the rest of you folks have posted accross the country.

The availablity of the AR's are here with pricing from $899 and up. Mostly the shorter carbine type, did not see the tables of them as I did last summer with most any configuration as you can imagine.

Not as many military rifles as previously seen such as the AK's, Mausers and SKS's. I counted about a dozen Garands pricing varried from $750 to $1,200and surprisingly only 3 carbines. I did not check their prices or make up other than to say their outward appearance was in the very good catagory for both the Garands and the carbines.

One heavy ammo dealer that is there most every time was doing a bang up job on newly manufactured Federal, Remington, named brands ammo. I can also say that I saw more old hunting ammo in 20 round boxes at inflated prices than any other time. It could be found on at least 40% of the tables, and I suppose these were from the smaller dealers trying to empty their shelves. He did have brisk sales for .223 and hand gun ammo by the named brand manufacturers. This being the second day of the show, I could see his stock he had brought was being depleted quickly. I have seen in the past what he had brought in before.

I did find two bargins that I had to pass up because I didn't bring enough money with me. A fellow had a spam can of 06 ammo, 192 rounds, in enblocs for sale at the bargin price of $110. Another fellow had the 240 round spam can marked $150 that was crossed off and showed " $125 Gun Show Special."
It was difficult to pass up but in good conscience, I thought I would leave it for someone else that was in dire need of this ammo.

I did not see the usual tables with reloading supplies and or equipment. Not one table did I see any offering powder or primers. Did see a few tables with a limited amount of brass and bullets. Did see a remanfactured ammo table with some decent pricing. 9 mm was $10 for a box of 50 rounds. Since I have not purchased manufactured ammo in years other than 9 mm I could not say his pricing was not high. I do know that I recently purchased 9 mm for $11 a box 124 gr. FMJ by Federal.

Did not see the usual cases of ammo for sale for AK's, SKS's and the other military rifles. Also, there usually are many people attending the show walking around with a sign on their firearm for sale. I did not see this today unless they were all there yesterday. However, I can also say that I have never seen this show with that many people there on the second day. My friend who was there promoting his CCW classes said it was a mad house yesterday. I talked a short while to a fellow that was selling from his personal collection of German Lugars and a couple of 1911's. He said he had a great two days of sales and he also managed to purchase 3 Lugars for his collection.

I might add that I did not stop at the tables with knives, jewelry, paintball guns and trinkets.

I did however on my way out stumbled upon a table a few odds and ends and noticed a heavy leather carrying case that would replace the one I have for a folding knife that will fit nicely on my belt. The back side is of double thickness and has a belt loop. The front has a sewn on pocket with a metal snap and it appears that I should get a few good years out of it. In fact, looking at it right now, it could easily accomdate a single stack pistol mag. Should have purchased two more. Price was only $2 and made in Mexico. Thought I would help their economy and maybe keep a couple of them on that side of the border.

That is about a summary of what I observed today. If you looked at the time stamp of my post, I can explain that easily, I had this all typed out before and lost it and had to start all over again.

Hope that I have not bored you by its length. If you have any specific questions I will try to answer them. I regret that I didn't take a note pad with me and record some pricing. I have a good memory but it is short.

Your Gun Show report sounds just about like all the rest, lots of shoppers, many looking for Black Rifles, ammo, and deals. I would only be looking for the deals.

There is going to be a Gun Show in my town next month, the first in several months due to extenuating circumstances. I am very curious how it will be attended, it's usually packed anyway. Unfortunately this promoter is not the best show, in my opinion. The average Gun Show attendee probably can't see the difference. In this show the knives, paintballs, jewelry, and jerky sellers outnumber the gun stuff, usually.

I need some Carbine and Garand parts so that is what I will be looking for mainly. Oh, and always ammo. And.... ok, will be looking at everything.

Except the knives, paintballs, jewelry, jerky ...

Will be very interesting, to me anyway.

I was at the Berea, Oh show last month. There was SOME M855 there, for I think $115 for 200 rounds. I think it was the Serbian mfg stuff. I did see one table with reloading supplies, that was it. Everyone else was selling their stuff (me included) mostly. Didn't see too many buyers last month. Hopefully that turns around here soon.
