Walther P38 First Time Buyer Questions

So, I've had a hankering for a P-38 handgun for quite some time and am looking for advice. I do not want to get some kind of über-pristine condition model, but am looking for a good, decent "field grade" copy that I can fire and enjoy.

Can members here recommend some of the best sources/outlets to obtain one and not get ripped off?

Thanks for any advice you guys might have for me.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. The Walther and P38 forums. Gunboards trader is still decent. That is where I recently got my AC44 with holster. All original and matching, except grips were Spreewerke, for $850 shipped. I traded a member of the k98k forum my Spreewerke Grips for his Walther grips straight up. Check markings inside grips.

Also check K98kforum.com Bob in Ohio had some nice ones but they were a little high in price $800-1,000 maybe you can tell him down.

44 and 45 are cheaper, but some 45 were post war put together from parts. 42 will be more expensive.
