A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Wouldn't surprise me, AKA. "Obamamania" is resulting in record firearms sales and ammo shortages, for certain firearms and calibers. Some sellers are taking advantage of that, or trying to, anyway, by raising prices. They say a rising tide floats all boats, and maybe that's what's happening, here.

Or maybe the seller just got lucky: His rifle and a somewhat uneducated buyer crossed paths.

I agree with Seamus - someone just wanted to buy it before Obama gets it!

    Variations in price

A local collector buddy just got a non-reworked OG stamped Remington 03A3 in EXC condition on Gunbroker for $500 and a bit. Like anything, some folks get deals and some folks succumb to auction or "gotta have it now" fever.
Patience, knowledge and persistence are what lead to a good buy.

Some times, the buyer has more money than time. I work 2 jobs to include weekends and don't have the time to watch auctions much. I looked over a year for a Lyman 48 S long slide for a reasonable price and lost auction after auction. Prices as high as $315! Finally bought one for $190, even though that's $40 more than I originally wanted to pay.
