I almost said the same thing as I remember a little while ago there was a recall on some 30/06 ammo for the same reason I just thought the case on the Rt primer looked a bit flatter than the left one however I would go with the rough F/P as it does stand out like DB's on the blow up. Be interesting to know if the pierced ones from the mates as well were from the same batch if they were it seems a bit out there that two different rifles would have rough firing pins causing the situation.

I agree. I think it's a hot round. It happens.

Roundy, you ask:"Is there a factory spec for firing pin protrusion?" - From elsewhere on the www I read: "Ensure that the striker protrusion is within 1.02 millimetre (0.040 inch) to 1.27 millimetre (0.050 inch)..."

Hey guys, had a look a the firing pin tonight - need to get some finer grit paper I think but it's a vast improvement - difficult to get the camerato focus but you can see the difference!

If you have a spare MkIII lying around the notch in the rear sight is a good guide to the shape of the tip for the F/P if it fits nicely into the groove its pretty well right to go read that some where cannot remember where though, I checked it against an armourers tool I have here and they look the same shape
