I meant to post this earlier, but here is a link to a recent ebay auction of one of the FN EX8 top cover and optic: British Experimental L1A1 Enfield Sniper Scope for EX8 Experimantal Rifle | eBay

Final sale price was $1641 USD, which works out to $2180 CDN. I likely would not have been in the bidding for that one.

I have saved a couple photos of this sight before it disappears from ebay. Note the CR number is on the tube, as opposed to inside the lens as on my Cdn example.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... That stuff was still in the weapon's techs drawers when I started out in Victoria...I remember lots of it. They couldn't use it for anything...it sat. Wish we'd had more foresight. But then we'd still have sold it along the way for a comparatively small price from what it's worth now or future.
    Regards, Jim

My god, that's a lot of money!

I suppose it's far rarer than the No32 scopes that come up for sale and some of them fetch very strong money.

Sad thing about these auctions is: If its in the US, it will mostly never come out again. It is the black hole for small arms surplus. They can grap everything (import) but you wont get it out again. So many missed items... Congratulation to whoever won this. Wont get cheaper over the next couple decades.
