    Utica M4 Bayonet potential value?

Hey all, I was perusing a local shop that has just an obscene amount of antiques and came across an M4 bayonet by Utica with the flaming bomb, and starburst pommel in a M10 scabbard (so no value there other than protection) in what I would say to be very good condition. I was turned off by the price tag I saw after the lady opened the cabinet, and couldn't get myself to ask her to walk all the way to the back of the store again to unlock the case for me to get pictures after walking around for a bit.

I am attaching a single picture to give an idea of the leather, but does anyone know if the value is there, or a general range? Many of that booths items were way out of line price wise, but then again I bet you this bayo hadn't been in a hand for years until mine yesterday, so maybe the value is there today?

I can always go back and snap more pictures, I buried it pretty good when I put it back, and I imagine it will be sitting there for a couple more decades if I don't grab it.

Can't really see anything but the pommel of a K-Bar. You should have taken a full pic while you had it out.

May I ask what price was being asked for it, please?

So depending on what it is exactly this may or may not be a bad price. I take it that it is defiantly a bayonet and not a fighting knife?

It is 100% a Utica M4 bayo for a carbine with leather and the flaming bomb, as well at a starburst punch at the end of the unit. The leather is fantastic, which you can kind of tell from the picture I have. The metal is in fantastic shape too!

I can jump over there tomorrow and snap some more pics, the tag definitely said non negotiable firm, which was disappointing for a serious haggler like myself haha.

I wouldn't let that put you off. It all depends on how long it's been sat there and how you go about asking for a price reduction; try to do it as nicely and pleasantly as possible. The worst that can happen is that the lady will say no. She is not likely to phone the police and ask to have you arrested, just for having the indecency of asking to buy the bayonet at a lower price.

Hahaha truer words have never been spoken. I have a Conetta M4 that I absolutely adore, but something about that leather and 40's feel.

I had to go back and fiddle with the pic again to see that the handle directly in front of me was the M4, don't know why I thought it was a K-Bar...yes, leather looks excellent. More pics are better though. $125 is a great price.

I'm going to head over there tomorrow morning for you 2 to have a better look. It's right next door to my place, might even sweeten up the lady with some hard candies haha.
