Latest Rifle Sight for my collection.

Picked this one up at the Maitland Gun Show.
Quizzed the seller and got the story that it was fitted to a rifle that occaisionally was fitted with a Morris Tube, explains the two sets of graduations on the sight, short range to 100yds and then the left side for the larger calibre.

I don't know why he removed the bridge, as the sight was simply sweated into the charger slot and could have been removed with a bit of heat.Attachment 87370Attachment 87371Attachment 87372Attachment 87373Attachment 87374Attachment 87375

    Nice pick up Muffett.

I was going to say muffett perhaps the person may have had an issue getting low enough on the stock to use the normal sights but thinking about it the charger bridge does not really intefere with ones sighting but it is a plausible idea as to why such an arrangement may have been done.

That's an interesting one. Do you think it's just a one off design? doesn't look like a production item to me;( but I don't know much about target sights).

30, I've seen about three of these, this is a first for me though, the other owners were not willing to part with the sight unless the rifle went too.
The elevation marks go to 800, with a bit of room above, maybe 900 at the most.
Elevation arm is relatively short, mainly to clear the bolt handle when laid back, the 'V' is large enough to view the standard sights, so obviously pre '30's while the "no interference with sights" rule was still in play.
